Orlando Country Estate

A flat farm paddock, turned horse arena, followed by a function centre and wedding venue.

The year was 1999, Angus and Sarah Lourie were farming sheep and beef and hosting trecks and teaching horse riding at their home located in the rolling hills of the Rangitikei, with beyond breath taking views of Mount Ruapehu, Mount Taranaki and the top of the South Island.

With more and more people coming to visit the views and large landscaped property, they decided to create a space to share with friends / family and businesses throughout the Rangitikei and Manawatu area.
Sarah, Angus and their now 4 children in tow established Orlando Country Estate.

Orlando Country Estate grew over the next 18 years to be an extremely successful venue with many weddings, work functions, conferences, team building days and corporate events.

Although now closed to the public with all events based in Palmerston North at the current venue, Orlando Country Estate remains the private home to the Lourie Family and will always be remembered as one of the greatest locations to host your event or wedding in the district.

Orlando Country Club

Having grown the Orlando Country brand and under the management of their now grown children, the Louries have expanded the operation to the Manawatu following the 2008 purchase and conversion of an old 42 acre ‘Town Supply’ dairy farm into the current ‘Orlando Country Club’ on the outskirts of Palmerston North City.

The flat property was completely re-developed incorporating a brand new Lake House building for events and hosting clients within extensive landscaping, with lakes, a driving range and the region’s only 9-hole executive golf course.

Orlando Country Club is now well established as one of the region’s major event venues, renowned for hosting many corporate events, team building days and conferences, along with private weddings and functions.

The Orlando Chapel which was originally built at the estate in 2014, has been relocated to Palmerston North and has been used for several wedding ceremonies, funeral services and christenings.

Now here we are today, 2021, with our feet firmly on the ground at 748 Rangitikei Line with Orlando Country as one of the top Manawatu venues for functions, weddings, conferences, and events.

The Story of Orlando.

Born at Springston in the South Island to ‘Miltondale Ebony’ by Akanar, whose breeding dates back to New Zealands’ first imported Arabian Stallion ‘Silver Sparkle’
Orlando was brought to the North Island as a 3 year old and soon after began his career as a show pony.
This was the beginning of a career that can only be described as incredible.
His showcasing career was to span two decades during which time he not only won hundreds of championships in the show ring but equally as many over jumps.
“Orlando” inspired not only those who competed on him, but those who competed against him and although now retired
from competition is an integral part of Orlando Country.
