Driving Range Rules

The enjoyment and of course safety of all guests and staff is a priority for Orlando Country.

To achieve this, we do have set rules that apply to all guests while present or wishing to attend The Orlando Country Club.

Some of the following you will find are common sense and others need to be highlighted to ensure all guests are aware.

Please see the following:

  • All players must only hit from the green mats at all times – do not hit off the grass.

  • No Happy Gilmore hits… it was a great movie, but our experience tells us that it is not so safe for those in other bays next to you – especially children.

  • Only the person hitting a ball should stand near the mat with others well back at all times.

  • Always obey our verbal or posted rules and instructions… use common sense to protect yourself and others (please don’t ruin another group’s day out!)

  • If you have a request to staff that is unable to be granted for whatever reason, then please either accept this or wait aside and staff will get back to you when they get a chance - please note that for their safety and wellbeing our staff are not to engage beyond any simple requests, and you will need to formally contact management to discuss any further issues.

  • You are responsible for the safety of others around you so always be on the lookout before taking a shot and be aware of your surroundings.

  • Aim for the range targets or up the centre of the range at all times.

  • Golfers on the course have the right of way at all times, so take a break if you think you might have stray shots as they head out to play – remember you are legally responsible for damages or injuries caused by any balls that hit another person, so hit within your limits. Staff have very little input into the creation of our rules, but they are required to ensure they are followed, so please work with them.

  • No Stag or Hens do are allowed at Orlando Country as as we are strictly a family, events and wedding venue.

Thank you for adhering to the rules and always remember the following: It’s nice to be important… but more important to be nice.

Driving Range FAQ’s.

How much does it cost?
Pricing is listed on each option and is on a per bay basis with max legal number, so simply choose the one that best suits your group size and requirements ie single bay for up to 10 people attending, a double bay for up to 20 or a VIP for an upgraded bay with larger numbers, a hosted range competition, free clubs and extra seating along with the ability to pre-order platter options for serving soon after arrival.

How is the VIP different from the other options?
The VIP is an upgraded bay area suitable for hosting from 4 guests through to 70 or more and is designed especially for celebrations, work do’s, client hosting etc.
Extras included in the VIP sessions  a hosted range “bar tab” competition, free golf clubs, extra seating and the ability to be able to pre-order platter options for serving to guests soon after arrival.

How many people can fit in a bay?
Max legal numbers are listed on each option, but work on 10 per single bay and 20 per double, with VIP for larger groups and upgraded hosting.

How many people does a platter serve?
For a lunch, they are designed on average for ‘1 platter per person’ when placed to the centre of the table to share with everyone, although the antipasto is larger so for 2 to 3 people.
Or, as an in-between and depending on appetites we would usually work on approx. 1 platter per 3 people.
Also note that VIP bookings can do a ‘pre-order’ in advance of the day (note pre-orders cannot be altered once sent in although more can be ordered on the day).

If we have fewer people turn up for our booking can we reduce the number of bays we have booked?
Yes after the first hour we can reduce back for you, but not before this.

If we have more people turn up for our booking can we add an extra bay to accommodate them?
Yes, no problem but only if a bay is available

What if a few more people than I booked turn up
That’s fine as long s you don’t exceed 10 people per single bay / 20 per double bay or the set limit on your reserved VIP bay

Can extras just sit outside the bay next to us?
We prefer you to book the appropriate sized bay, but if absolutely necessary management may on certain occasions allow extras into the reserved veranda area for a set fee of $10.00 per person, but only on the condition they do not enter your bay area unless someone from within swaps out with them first as all bays have legal limits that must be adhered to.

What if we haven't finished our drinks and food when our time is up.
You can finish any food and drinks in our reserved common area behind the bays as long as it is not after closing time..

Can I pre-order platters?
No Yes providing you are booked under the VIP option although do note that platter orders cannot be changed, although more can be added on the day if need be.

What if we arrive late?
This is depends on the reservation following your allocated time, although do be prepared for a reduction in your bay time.

If we arrive late do we get a discount for reduced time?
No sorry, but sometimes we can give a few minutes extra at the other end if the bay is not reserved.

What if we arrive early?
Depends on the booking before you, sometimes we can slip you in early and sometimes you end up waiting in the casual area.

What if we cancel?
You can cancel up to 24 hours prior without any fee or within 24 hours you need to pay for the first full hour of your booking.

Can we change our booking to another time / day etc?
Yes if an alternative is available and it is more than 24 hours notice

Can we bring a cake?
Orlando Country does not allow any form of food or drinks to be brought onto the property. Please see our in-house options Celebration Cakes or you are welcome to order the sweets platter from the sharing platter menu and we can add a candle to this along with a short message.

We haven't hit all of our golf balls can we stay until we are finished?
No sorry, your stay is based on time, not the number of balls we give you to hit – you can extend your booking to hit more off though if the bay is available.

I will decide on the day how long I want is that OK?
Yes provided your bay is not booked out by someone else and we don’t have availability for you.

Can we have our lunch and order drinks in the bay?
Yes all bays are suitable for dining

Can we bring along our kids and can they hit balls?
Yes, no problem you just need to keep all children at arms length and ensure they do not go beyond the veranda edge or annoy other guests next to you.

Can we smoke in the bays?
Yes providing you don’t have smoke drifting into other groups bays, just ask staff for an ashtray.

Do you host stag or hen events?
No, not at all sorry as we are strictly a family, events and wedding venue

Are the bays heated?
We have a few small heaters only, so do wear a coat or bring a rug if it is cold.

Can we have our own music playing?
No – it would clash with the main house music playing

Can we have speeches in our bay area?
No one minds a few celebratory speeches for a special occasion but keep them reasonable and do note others will be able to hear them. Please also note we cannot turn down the music s it plays throughout the whole building.

Can I just squash in 1 extra person, and they won't hit balls?
No not at all sorry – this not only unsafe, but also exceeds the legal limit allowed – on occasion and where deemed suitable by management, extras may be allowed into the reserved veranda area for a set fee of $10.00 per person, but only on the condition they do not enter your bay area unless someone from within swaps out with them first as all bays have legal limits that must be adhered to.

Not everyone will be hitting golf balls so they are not counted right?
We count the number of people attending, not those hitting balls as you are hiring the bay area.
